Having grown old and decrepit myself, I tend to be more moved by stories in the media that have an impact on my age group.
The revelation that the Federal government had removed subsidies to elderly folks requiring assistance with showering or dressing, meant they had to pay something like $50 an hour for home help..It has only now, in the face of a very public backlash that they have had a change of heart..Changes of heart often occur when other parties may seek to make capital out of stupid decisions, and I wonder if the rise and rise of Paulines redhead party had a hand in reversing the decision.
There is a creeping cancer within the federal government as they look to prune costs ( so they can send money to Trump for submarines we may or may not ever get ) I have had more than my share of cat scans, and x rays etc of recent times, and regularly have been advised, that the tests were no longer covered by the government..same with pills, I have had to pay an arm and 2 legs for medicines that were no longer available on the free list.. ( which was like free education.. it was free in name only ).I am waiting to see what rabbits come out of the hat when Mr Chalmers delivers the forthcoming budget, and I am certain it will not all be roses.. I would hate his job, but it is a mess that collectively previous governments have created.. why we didnt have the fuel stockpiles we were supposed to have, why we allow dicks like Trump to stipulate we have to spend 5% of our GDP on defence ( so the US, wont have to.. it is cost shifting by another name )
Where do you find that rare mix of politicians with the balls to stand up to dicks like Trump.. we sure dont have any.. but I am heartened by countries like Spain who not so politely have told him to go F**k himself
