What a frigging place is Canberra..

It may have been Australia’s first city to be designed from the ground up, but Burly Griffin did a pox job if you ask me.. I am making a hand rail for old and infirm folks to navigate a bank of 3 steps up to the front door..I have brought my welder and associated bits and pieces, all I needed was steel.. strangely enough rather than bring my stocks from Bendigo, I gave it away.. now I have had to go buy some.. and that is where good old Burley got it so wrong.. obviously he was a toffee nose, who thought all sorts of manual exertion should be banished to the outskirts rather than being close to the population centres who may use the products.. so I drove frigging miles yesterday to buy some over price steel tube.. given fuel costs the steel was expensive to start, but the 2 hour round trip to pick it up didn’t make it any cheaper.

The way shops are located in little enclaves sprinkled around suburbs makes a quick dash out to pick something up a trek and a half..The only saving grace of my location is that it is within a reasonable distance of a Bunnings store.I am still learning my way around Canberra, and frankly it is a shit fight, and has an over zealous Police force with little better to do than man speed cameras all over the place, between them and the wooded areas between well spaced out and isolated suburbs and the kangaroos it is a nightmare for an interstate drive feeling his way around.
